Routine Hygiene Appointments
A regular dental cleaning may not seem to hold much importance in the scope of other oral issues, however, staying up to date with your hygiene appointments will keep you on top of your oral health in many ways. Not only will your hygienist keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy, but regular x-rays and check-ups with your dentist will insure that an issue is caught before it becomes too unmanageable or expensive.
Seeing your hygienist and dentist every 3 to 6 months, depending on your gum health, will help detect any decay, whether it be insipiant (a spot to watch that may be susceptible to decay) or actual decay, before it becomes a bigger problem.
If you need a filling due to decay, this can cost anywhere from 0 to a few hundred dollars, depending on your dental benefits. However, if you wait too long in between dental visits and decay becomes too deep, the chances of needing a root canal and crown grow exponentially. Root canals and crowns are much more expensive than fillings. Instead of possibly spending a couple hundred on a filling, now you're looking at a couple thousand on the root canal and crown.
So besides the amazing feeling of smooth, clean teeth after your hygiene vist, you can also avoid costly procedures by maintaining a regular dental routine. If you're behind on your cleaning give us a call today! (559) 513-0707
